Since its inception in 1975, the Toronto Cathay Lions club has worked hard in fulfilling its commitment to serving our community. We have initiated fundraising activities for organizations worldwide, including local nursing homes, hospitals, universities, medical research, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force to communities as distant as China. We also actively participate in similar charitable functions organized by other community groups.
In celebrating our 30th year of service to the community, we have organized a fundraising Gala Dinner scheduled for August 27th, 2005 to be held at the Hilton Suites Hotel. Major recipient of net proceeds from this event will be the Toronto Sick Children's Hospital Foundation. The Toronto Cathay Lions Club has committed to donate a minimum of $60,000 to this good cause. The evening will feature performances by renowned singer, Ms. Camy Tang from Hong Kong and a live band for our guests' dancing pleasure. An estimated 600 prominent guests from the business and professional sectors will be attending this function and this event will be widely covered by the media.
